Sorry I have not written on this thing in a while, I got a little carried away with email, and completely forgot about this. I don't think that I have posted for more than a year! Let me recap 5Th grade. I had Mrs. Becker, and Ms. Sterns. Mrs. Becker taught math, and Ms. Sterns taught LA, and Social studies. It was a great year. we had an Egypt, Greek, and Mesopotamian unit in Social studies. I loved it. Math, not so much. Sorry if you are reading this Mrs. Becker. Everyone has their favorites.
Anyways now I am in 6Th grade now. I have four teachers. Mr.Paradise, Mr. Shelton, Mrs. Zareh, and Mrs. Jones. In order, they are LA, Social studies, math, and science. They are great teachers. The homework is 1.5 to 2 hours a night It is good.

a blue dolphined island movie

Tonight, I watched a movie called Island of the Blue Dolphins. It is about a girl who gets stranded on an island that her tribe used to live on,but they moved away to someplace else. She had to survive for years on the island.
I would suggest that you read the book first.

Today we had a plumber come to our house to take out some gunk that was blocking the main sewage pipe. He used a thing that found the pipe.It worked like a metal detector. The pipe was broken so then he cleaned it out with a long drill. Then he waited for it to drain. Next, he looked at a screen that was connected to a camera placed inside the pipe.Soon, we will have a clean pipe,but for now,it is still draining.

Shaw park pool

Today I went to the Shaw park pool.There are a few things there.There is a big rectangular pool, a baby pool with a plastic slide,and three different levels of diving boards in a deep area.Most of the time I went off of the platform, the highest diving board.But I also went on the other boards.My grandma came too,she and my mom watched Hayden in the Baby pool. When my mom came to pick me up at the diving boards,I was not there,I was in the rectangular pool swimming around.So mom got worried,until I saw her,and swam after her, when she saw me, we went home,and relaxed,until mom told me to blog,which I am doing right now.

I just started my baseball season and it started out perfectly we won about 12 to 1.The second game was much better,I got to be catcher and first base.I also made a play when I tagged a runner going to second! Another play was when I was running to second, slid about four feet and was safe! After I slid I whispered "yyyyyyyesssssssss" and a kid called me an idiot or doofus or something! Ahh well, at least I made it to second.

You will not believe this.In the NCAA basketball tournament Mizzou was not only up by 13 at the half.At the last second someone not only made a three point shot.But,they also made it from wy behind the half court line.Fit that into one word and to me that is AWSOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Monday my family and I went to Miami beach at 3:10 p.m. For the first time we didn't have any luggage to put into the plane,we just had carry on bags. When we got there we got dinner from premo's pizza, which is a carry out pizza place. Then we went to our condo and ate our pizza. The next day we woke up and after about an hour we went to our condo's pool. After that we went to the beach. There weren't many big waves, actually the biggest one I saw was about 4-6 feet high(not a very big wave).After that we went home and watched Space Chimps on demand. Then we went to bed. The next day we looked outside,it was cloudy.So we hung around for a while until mom thought we should go to a movie. That sounded like a good idea so dad and I dropped our rummy game cards (we had been having a tournament)and went to a movie.We saw Race to Witch Mountain.It is about two alien kids that look like kids from earth,but they have special powers.Seth can change his density so he can walk through walls and get hit by bullets without getting hurt.His sister of which I have forgotten her name can control things with her mind(she was Leslie Burke in Bridge to Terabithia). But what happens in the movie is the aliens have to get some device that shows earth has oxygen and can sustain life so they can bring it to there dying planet with a poisonous atmosphere to save it.But there planets army has another idea.They want to take over earth.So The children aliens must find the device and find their crashed spaceship,Which is hidden in Witch mountain,a extremely protected place and has the same idea as area51.So you get it,a lot of adventure and action.After that we went to the best restaurant in the world. It's called Big Pink and it serves everything.finally we went back to the condo and my dad did some brackets for the basketball tournament that starts today.Then we went to sleep. When I woke up this morning I knew I was going down to the keys of Florida.Who knows what will happen there today.

On the first day we got to the keys we had lunch, then we went swimming at a swimming pool place the size of about a quarter of the mall in Washington D.C! After hanging out there for a few hours we went home(we were staying at a friend of my parents' house). When we got there we played the oddest Scrabble game of my life.You could put 'za and other two letter slang words and further more you could put zz which"means" sleep. then we took a picture of the board.Then we talked or watched the NCAA basketball tournament, then we went to sleep. The next day I got dressed and waited,then we went swimming Then we fed some fish, some people threw the small dead fish to the huge fish,others held their fish over the pond and the fish would jump out and grab the small fish.Then a pelican got a fish out of my brothers hand and some skin of him to!!! After that we went out for ice cream and went back the condo.
That night my brother kept turning over,sleeping on the bed sideways and putting his feet on my pillow. It was a rough night so I went into my mom and dad's room and slept there. That morning I had a different breakfast than usual, I had a egg and cheese burrito! Then we went to the beach. It had very choppy waves so I had fun throwing myself into them. Then we went back and had lunch.After that my dad and I played rummy and go fish.Then we went to the pool.We did the same thing the day after. After that day we went to the Murphys' condo we had breakfast,then we went to the ocean and I got hurt by a feather the other day(really)and it hurt when I went into the water. so I sat out sort of.Then we went to the pool and it went nine feet down.We played different games that are played in the water.then we went to lunch and played crazy eights,I had a salad.Then we went to the beach and played in the waves until we went back to their condo and played a card game.Then we went to the condo.The last day we went to the beach,then the pool.at the beach we went on a huge island of rocks. at the pool my brother and I chased my dad.After that we had lunch and went to the airport.I fell asleep on the plane once or twice. then we finally arrived back home, at ST.Louis Missouri.

I got a world almanack , three The Story of Science books, by Joy Hakim,some clothes and a wind up toy that bounces from one side of the room to the other from my uncle Ian. My dad's parents got me the T.V series,cosmos and two star finding books. My mom's parents got me a bunch of clothes (which are awesome). My mom and dad got my brother and I a mac book! I just got back from beach week so here is what I did.

DAY 1: I went boogie boarding at the beach

DAY2: I go swimming at the beach

DAY3: I play baseball on the beach

DAY4:I go flying in an airplane and catch my first fish

DAY5:I go mini golfing , climb a giant sand dune and have shrimp for dinner

DAY6: I help build a giant sand castle. Then, I step on something in the surf and go to the hospital.

DAY:7 I drive back

I hope you will plan a trip just as fun [but not as painful] as mine was.

Long trip

Yesterday I started my trip from St.Louis,MO to Arlington VA. I started the trip st 7:00 p.m. then my family and I drove to Indianapolis and slept in a hotel. When we woke up we had breakfast and left. we drove until our car needed gas and lunch.then we drove until 6:30 p.m. By that time we were in Arlington.

This summer I'm going many places. I'm going to New York City to see my uncle and aunt.I'm also going to Dallas, Texas to visit one of my dads friends and to see two baseball games! I went to a karate tournament on Saturday. I sparred and did two katas (forms). Above is my bo kata (giant stick). I did very well and I got one medal for it. I've only been working with my bo for two months!

This is my open hand kata, called Pinan Shodan. I've been working on it since I was an orange belt (I'm a green belt now -- that's the level above orange belt). I got a fourth place trophy for it. I feel like I did a very good job.

In sparring, I won one match and lost one match in sudden death (4-5). I got a medal for that, too.

This summer I went to Washington D.C , New York City and The Outer Banks. First I went to New York. I saw the statue of liberty I went to ellis Island and roosevelt Island.Next I went to D.C. I didin't do much there except go to my cousin's house. And last but not least I went to the outer banks! I had so much fun boogie bording ,tuobing and driving a boat!Now that is what I call a good vacation!

[I'm really sorry about this because this hapend three months ago!] Three months ago my class and I went camping. We had lots of fun.Like playing games about the enviorment[not bord games] such as playing a deer game. It was really fun! We slept in log cabins .

Cahokia last week

A week ago I went to Cahokia. Cahokia is in consiville IL.It is where a lot of mounds are and that's not it, there used to be an entire civilazation there and it was ran by one person,the great chief A.K.A the great sun he was thought to be the sun's brother.

The civilization lasted about 1000 years. YOU can guse how all the people died .nobody really knows how they died. So leave a comment telling me how YOU think they all died.

I take a tri art camp. The arts are swimming ,biking and running.We swim at shaw park pool.[Camps can go there but the only other people there are people from clayton.]My favorate thing to do is go of the diving bords.My bike is the color of the letters in this sentence.

My Promotion Test

Yesterday, I had my promotion test. I was testing for a yellow belt with a black stripe. It was really hard because for about three hours I did mostly exercizes. Then we had to sit down and wait for our names to be called but the odd thing was that our hands couldn't touch the floor -- standing up or getting down or when you're already on the floor. Then it was my turn, I was actually the third person, I did two katas instead of one because you have to know at least one kata to move up one belt. I feel that I did great. I also did an odd type of sparring. It was more like wrestling than really using self-defense.

Sparring

I sparred last night.

Sparring is when you compete with other people in your karate class to practice karate.

As soon as you enter the ring, you bow. Then you bow to your teacher. Then you bow to your opponent. Then you shake hands. Then you get in a fighting stance and you either throw three types of punches or three kicks. The three punches are normal punch, reverse punch and head/body punch. The kicks are front kick, side kick and roundhouse kick. A successful above-the-belt kick is two points. A punch is one point.

I sparred three people and I won two out of three. The third person was a yellow belt with a black stripe, and I was leading but then he got ahead of me and it was hard to score more points. If you are interested in taking karate, ask me. You will learn a lot of karate. I'm just a white belt, and I know a lot of karate -- and I've only been there for three months and one day!

My promotion test, which means I'll go to a yellow belt, is in April.

My basketball game

This is me playing defense at my basketball game on Sunday. I am number 50. In that exact same game, I almost stole a ball when it was being bounce-passed to someone else. I hope you enjoy the movie.

Ice skating

On Sunday, I went to the Skate Break. I wore hockey skates, and I had never worn hockey skates before. I was kind of good at the beginning, but by the end of the skate break, I could go really fast!

My friends Ethan, Mary Ren, Matthew and Diego skated with me, too. I did 50 to 100 laps, I think. After I skated, I went to the restaurant inside the skating rink and I had a hot dog and some really hot hot chocolate. I had a really great time!

You can go there if you go around the perimeter of Forest Park. How you know it's there is that there are huge ice chunks around it.

Rock climbing

Last night, I went to the Galleria and my family and I went to Johnny Rocket's, and on my second bite of my hamburger my tooth came out!

Today, I lost another tooth. It was really wiggly, and I tried to pull it but it didn't go out. About 30 seconds later, I felt that my tooth had almost came out -- except for a bit of gum. So I pulled it and it came out!

This Christmas I got a BUNCH of things! I went to Tucson, Arizona to visit Grammy and Grampy.

I got a new Nintendo DS game, Nintendogs. You get to buy your own dog or dogs. You start off with one and you can buy more, I have two Cutie and beegy You get more money by selling things you get on walks or buy things and then sell them. But if you buy things and then sell them you get LESS money than you did before. When you have enough money you can go to the kennel and I can buy a Dalmation, Boxer, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, and Beagle. There are other Nintendog games: Chihuahua and Lab. The next Nintendog game I want to get is a Lab because I have a yellow lab at home.

I also got a hovering disk. It can fly all around the room, but only vertical.

My birthday was yesterday!

Yesterday, I went to the Science Center for my birthday. I turned eight yesterday. I invited two friends - Ethan
XXXXXX and Jack. Ethan gave me a set of snowmen that you can put paint in and make colorful paintings. He also gave me a book called "The Way the Universe Works" and last, he gave me a map of puzzles for the USA. Jack gave me the game, Risk.

I saw an OmniMax movie called "Greece." It was about ancient Greece. I went to the planetarium, and I saw a star show. It talked about the night sky and eclipses. I went to an exhibit called Lego MindStorms. You have to get your robot past obstacles and get some balls that a dragon is guarding, and you can either make light, box it, or shoot arrows at it, and you have to do all of that by programming it on a computer. But you don't program the dragon. We also made an arch out of blocks, and I kicked the arch down on my friends ... but they wanted it to fall on them, so that's actually OK.

When I got home, my dad taught me how to play Risk, and I won that game! And my presents were a red sleeping bag (from Grandma and Grandpa Ray), a Yahtzee Turbo (from Aunt Kristen and Uncle Brayer), a football (from my little brother), some collectable coins (from Grandma Jayne), some clothes, a book and a 3-D wooden puzzle of the Empire State Building (from Uncle Ian and Aunt Kathy), and Grammy and Grampy will let me pick one thing from anywhere we go for a souvenir. We're going to Arizona tomorrow. When I get back, we are going to buy a new bicycle for me from Mom and Dad.

Learning about a science experiment in science

When I was in science today, Mr. Sawyer (my science teacher) taught me a science experiment. If you want, you can do this at home.

What you need is a piece of brown paper and some food. You put the food on the brown paper and press on it firmly, but don't squish the food. Then take the food off the paper and if the brown paper is see-through, that means it has fat in it. If it has a liquid that seems to evaporate over time, that means it doesn't have any fat in it.

I might tell you more experiments as my food studies go on in science. Because in science, Mr. Sawyer said we will be doing a lot of experiments on food.
